ARAI chooses its cloth bolt by bolt — judo-uniform sashiko cotton from a mill in Gifu, linen from a workshop in Łódź, and one bolt of natural indigo cotton from a couple in Kiryū, of which there will be no more. The Bolt Letter is one story a month: the cloth on the cutting table, where it came from, and the pieces it is becoming in the Berlin studio.
